Franchising the MEFL
How valuable is a name of a franchise?
WFT?
One might say that someone's text was autocorrected by their "smart"phone for acronym of my "PG" rated version of the expression... "Whta ni the world is oging on!"
What is Washington Football Team? Are they a gang of window washers?...dry cleaners? or...maybe relics from the civil war? (which I never got that name for a war cause, frankly, there was definitely nothing "civil" about it.)
That name just shows how a manger was told by someone else that, "Hey, you can't do that!" and said manager said, Ha! I'll show you! Tried to make a sensitive subject make no sense by naming the team...non-sense. (...smh...)
The point: When the team mattered, "The HOGS" meant something to the NFL, it had a reputation to uphold, it made sense because the team's moniker identified it to the league.
The MEFL now has some historically "FAN-tastic" fantasy value. How about the very 1st Champion team name of "The FORCE"...
It is fitting for a StarWars League to have a Championship from a team that is the heart & soul of such a themed league.
Here is a glimpse into multi-franchise history of CloneMaster Ian Ta's teams...
Let's take my franchises expansion for example. MEFL history dates the beginning of the "Kamino Franchise" to year 2006, where through recruitment by the Commish, I signed on to establish the team the Commish himself dubbed "The Cloners". However, little would the league know that the MEFL would be ground "zero" for future expansion. Ha, I didn't know...lol!
A player that was acquired was shall we say...hybrid player in that, Antonio Gates had the curious (te/wr) tag. He went on to become one of Drew Brees' top targets. It was a losing 1st season but, the following year in 2K7...the team that was a joke won the Championship and added commentary on the way... It was a Fun year...teams were...cloned in defeat!
Due to numerous failures the team was destined to be outsourced. After the debacle of 2K13 of getting to the Championship that year and coming up short in what was the MEFL's 1st meeting of two previous champs going for a 2nd championship, Order 66 was enacted on the team itself to be re-booted by rebellion sympathizers. This was also the year that not only was a team guaranteed a (rumored) personalized Championship ring but, a NEW MEFL Ring was forged!
The first outsource was for SkyWalker to go at it as I researched for a new approach in a league established by one of my clone commanders, Capt. JR V as a side endeavor to bring Kamino back. SkyWalker's 2015 season was rough but, the franchise came back the following season in 2016 to make a return to the playoffs with promise for the future. However, SkyWalker could no longer stay on as he had another "Ray" of hope to contend with & he was not interested in contending with a Rise in the Empire...
Meanwhile, the same strategy used for that year paid tremendous dividends in Kamino's side endeavor with a Championship run for a 2015 Win in a "ghost" league and another Championship in our Commander's league in 2016. Now, I like that!!!
As partnership with our Commander proved to be a huge investment, the second outsource agreed to stick with the plan as no other option was available, headed by a reprogrammed Imperial Droid, and the K-2SO Raptorz were the next to take on what we call "The Way of Kamino". With support from the CloneMaster himself... The Raptors were truly a machine. They were instrumental in keeping our current 2020 Champ's team at that time from "Invading" the championship game in 2017 which was won 10 years prior with ...Antonio Gates on the roster! That was a true cloned experience...
Interestingly, with the MEFL 2017 season starting with controversy in that the Commish changed the rules literally days before the draft. DAYS B4 THA' DRAFT!!! The 2017 K-2SO Raptorz claimed the Trophy and donned "the Ring" as proof that the strategy on Kamino was a standard to (BAM!!) coin and phrase!
The 2018 season was difficult because a repeat Championship is hard to come by especially when your Head leadership takes a blast to the head, literally...one of the shortest reigns EVER. So, our commander brought his own brand officially to the league as the "KaMino CoMManders". This made for a respectable showing to at least get into the playoffs but was crushed in the 1st round. It is said that he used a bad batch of clones to run that year which the Empire tracked down and destroyed which lead us to believe that some Imperial "entanglement" was involved in the defect. Darth Ravage took over as the 2019 "Imperial Ravagers" and totally..."scuffed" the franchise to say the least and sold out to the Outsiders as the 2020 "OuterRim Ravagers" took over.
Currently, since the history of Kamino involves "equal opportunity", I have allowed a partnership/liason with Ravage as Commander JR V keeps a close eye on the franchise. After in what I would call, treatment that is definitely "unfair"...this reluctant partnership has continued until the "entanglement" that "Ravaged" the Kamino franchise and placed it on lockdown, imprisoning us by Distancing by the Zoominst...definitly an outsider (again, unfair) has been properly dealt with. Kamino will be salvageable going forward and rest assured... As I direct this franchise in the shadows, the return will mean that... @2021_KaMino_Ravagers.
What do names of MEFL franchises tell you?
If you have been fortunate to have a franchise that has not changed, the history is solid.
Like "The HOGS" of the past NFL... You know what to expect when your team v.s... Trebor means...
You know what you're in for when X-Wing, Rise, Raiders are on deck.
Whether, there is a legacy left or one to build, in the MEFL our teams have a story and some are throw backs to what once was and what can be...because "anything can happen" in the MEFL.
